Baikalkvartzsamotsvety enterprise began its activities on September 16, 1966 by Order No. 452 of the Ministry of Geology of the USSR to scale up jewel and gemstone prospecting and exploration work.
The company's geologists have explored and discovered dozens of gemstone deposits from Altai to the Far East: jade, lapis-lazuli, jadeite, charoite, beryl, tourmaline, topaz, chrysolite, amethyst, cornelian, amazonite, ophicalcite, onyx marble, microquartzite and granular quartz.
At the present time Baikalkvartzsamotsvety Joint Stock Company is the only integrated geological and industrial enterprise from the Urals to the Far East which independently explores, produces and processes natural gemstones.
At the moment, Baikalkvartzsamotsvety JSC continues production mining on three worldwide-known deposits which were discovered by employees of the company:
1966 – jade,
1973 – charoite,
1988 – ophicalcite.
